Frozen Form

When a living being is static, it is easier to appreciate the beauty of its form, and the most static form is found in death. In order to capture this essence, I took photographs of exhibits at the Zoological Museum of Moscow University, visiting as a regular museum-goer and shooting in available museum light.

By removing all extraneous elements from the image, I attempted to give these creatures a new life. Stripped of their test tubes, surroundings, and ghostly reflections, they exist in a new dimension where their beauty comes to the forefront.

These exhibits not only have scientific value but also serve as a testament to the elegance of these creatures and a reminder of the finite existence of all living beings. They are not only objects of study but also subjects for contemplation.

Works from this series are part of the collection of Multimedia Art Museum, Moscow.
